HairOnPurpose brings together young girls to explore topics concerning their hair-journey, social definitions of beauty, and empowers them to take ownership of their own understanding of self-worth.

Among the key questions discussed in the event are (scroll down):

What is considered ‘beautiful’ hair?

Beauty is a major component of self-esteem. If we let the society define what beauty is, then our girls’ notion of worth can be compromised. We tackle this question by exploring the history of hair, its portrayal in the media, and how to challenge current stereotypes.

How should I take care of my hair?

HairOnPurpose discussions include actionable takeaways for how to best take care of our hair. From natural products to sustainable health practices, our students will learn how to preserve healthy and beautiful hair.

How can I empower other girls to take action?

We train our participants to become leaders and spread the message of self-worth, health, and beauty to other girls in their communities.
